The optimal skin care routine is important, but there are other factors to young looking skin. What else can you do?
Diet:Medical Studies have proven that a diet rich in vegetables and olive oil is protective against skin aging. Another study as shown the anti-aging effect of soy on the skin. So you are what you eat to some degree- eat healthy and you will look healthy also.
Exercise:We all know that exercise is good for us, but it is also good for our skin. It produces endorphins which brighten and rejuvenate the skin and make us feel great and also increases blood flow, leaving a healthy glow. Even getting your heart rate up for 10 minutes a day makes a difference.
Sleep:They call it beauty sleep for a reason. We all know that if we don't get enough sleep our skin will look dull and tired and there are those pesky dark circles. Luckily Dr Rachel has developed a cream that she uses when she gets very little sleep: (Candesca) There is a lot more to the sleeping story- if you are a stomach sleeper beware! Studies have shown that this actually will produce sleep line and wrinkles. Ways to fight this type of wrinkling are use a firm pillow and a silk or satin pillowcase.
Sun:Sun sure is fun and we all like a tan. But sun is the major cause of skin aging today. Why not try a self tanner for a safer bronze glow? Sunscreen is a huge part of wrinkle prevention.
Smoking:We know smoking is bad for us in a lot of ways, but it also causes premature wrinkles and numerous studies have shown this. Just one more reason to quit.
Hydration:For those who live in dry climates this a big cause of wrinkles. Studies have shown a significant difference in hydrated skin. Drink plenty of water, moisturize and use a humidifier.
