copper peptide and treating skin wrinkles
Copper Peptide: What will it do for your skin?
Copper, a trace element can be combined with small protein fragments, called peptides and used topically in skin creams. Copper peptides have been proven to enhance wound healing and to stimulate production of collagen. Copper peptides may also enhance the activity of anti-oxidants. There have been some small studies regarding Copper and skin wrinkling and there has been an improvement in fine wrinkling demonstrated.
In wound healing Copper Peptides have been proven to help remodel the skin, breaking down abnormal scar tissue and replacing it with healthy collagen. In theory this benefit of copper could also be applied to treating wrinkles and damaged skin, although probably on a much less intense level.
Copper Peptides also are anti-inflammatory and treat skin irritation, which is accompanied by free radicals which cause skin damage. Therefore it is also a good anti-oxidant.
In higher concentrations Copper Peptide may be potentially harmful to the skin, so lower concentrations are recommended and are used in Dr Rachel Skincare products.

skin cream, skin care products, what are the best ingredients
Herbal Extracts- How they work to improve the skin
Many skin creams contain herbal extracts. Many of these extracts have been used for centuries and have certain “folk tale” wisdom associated with them. With the advent of modern science, however, we have been able to actually break down the extract into components and see how they effect the skin. Many of the extracts contain individual components that have been proven to have beneficial effects. For example, there have been some recent studies regarding the benefits of ursolic acid on the skin, and this is a major ingredient of Thyme Extract. Now that we know what is in these extracts and how they work, we can find perfect all natural ingredients for skin creams. What is interesting is that many of the herbal extracts that have been used as oral supplements are now being used topically in skin cream products. The rationale being, that if they are good for us by mouth, why wouldn't they be good for the skin? A few examples of these are green tea, reservatrol, algae extract etc. Examples of the functions of the herbal extracts used in skin creams are as anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial (anti-bacterial, anti-viral), stimulating, tightening, moisturizing and toning. For specifics as to how each herbal extract works see the ingredients section of my website, www.candescaskincream.com

another way to erase skin aging and wrinkles
Anti-Inflammatory Skin Care Ingredients and MMP Inhibition:
Why are anti-inflammatory ingredients important?
Inflammation is a significant cause of skin damage and wrinkling. This is due to the free radicals that are produced and the inflammatory substances which can harm the skin. (mentioned more in our article about anti-oxidants) Many things will cause skin inflammation: sun exposure, a dry environment, toxins in the air and environment , and even the actual anti-aging cosmeceuticals themselves. Therefore, targeting inflammation is an important part of treating skin aging and wrinkles.
Another way that targeting inflammation works against aging is to lower the levels of matrix metalloproteinases. These are enzymes that break down the skin matrix, which contributes to wrinkles and aging. Studies have shown that these enzymes are increased in the elderly, causing breakdown of skin and more wrinkles.
Boswellia serrata is a natural herbal extract that has anti-inflammatory activity and may inhibit the metalloproteinases also. Reservatol, found in grapes, is a very strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory and is now being used in skin care products. Butchers Broom, another natural herbal extract inhibits elastase, another metalloproteinase enzyme and may have significant anti-aging activity.

What's all this hype about anti-aging skin creams, topical botox, face lift in a jar? Woman and men also, are spending hundreds of dollars on new products that are reputed to treat the signs of skin aging. This article will address a few questions: Does these skin creams work? What is the most effective cream? So the question is, do these skin creams work? The answer is yes and no. Skin aging as manifested by wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, loss of elasticity is often a result of "PHOTOAGING". This is the effect of the sun on our skin. This photoaging is the most reversible damage to our skin and many creams and the ingredients in these creams are effective in treating it. Many new cosmeceuticals have been shown to be effective in reversing the signs of photoaging and preventing new damage. I'll go into these ingredients in detail a bit later, but a few of these are Vitamin C, DMAE, alpha lipoic acid, acetyl hexapeptide 3, anti-oxidants such as idabenone and coenzyme Q and many more. What about just old age? This is a little harder to fix, since there is actual breakdown of the deeper layers of connective tissue of our skin. A few substances, such as DMAE are promising in treating "skin sagging" or this actual aging and breakdown of the skin.So what is the best cream if I want to treat photo-aging? Your best bet is cream that is moisturizing, containing hyaluronic acid, and contains a combination of the best cosmeceutical ingredients, since each one is going to target different areas. For example the all in one cream , Candesca, by Dr Rachel Skincare, contains just about every beneficial cosmeceutical that has been proven to be effective. If you pick a cream that has just one ingredient, you are hedging your bets that particular one will work for you. Also important is SPF. There's really no point in treating photo-aging if you are going to continue the damage. Don't you wish you knew that at age18!Rachel Sullivan MD

Skin Care Tips from Rachel Sullivan MD
Tips for looking younger
website www.candescaskincream.com
The optimal skin care routine is important, but there are other factors to young looking skin. What else can you do?
Diet:Medical Studies have proven that a diet rich in vegetables and olive oil is protective against skin aging. Another study as shown the anti-aging effect of soy on the skin. So you are what you eat to some degree- eat healthy and you will look healthy also.
Exercise:We all know that exercise is good for us, but it is also good for our skin. It produces endorphins which brighten and rejuvenate the skin and make us feel great and also increases blood flow, leaving a healthy glow. Even getting your heart rate up for 10 minutes a day makes a difference.
Sleep:They call it beauty sleep for a reason. We all know that if we don't get enough sleep our skin will look dull and tired and there are those pesky dark circles. Luckily Dr Rachel has developed a cream that she uses when she gets very little sleep: (Candesca) There is a lot more to the sleeping story- if you are a stomach sleeper beware! Studies have shown that this actually will produce sleep line and wrinkles. Ways to fight this type of wrinkling are use a firm pillow and a silk or satin pillowcase.
Sun:Sun sure is fun and we all like a tan. But sun is the major cause of skin aging today. Why not try a self tanner for a safer bronze glow? Sunscreen is a huge part of wrinkle prevention.
Smoking:We know smoking is bad for us in a lot of ways, but it also causes premature wrinkles and numerous studies have shown this. Just one more reason to quit.
Hydration:For those who live in dry climates this a big cause of wrinkles. Studies have shown a significant difference in hydrated skin. Drink plenty of water, moisturize and use a humidifier.
